Great stay for couples
We got the Vana villa with pool, after a mix up which gave us the garden view albeit with a small upgrade charge. Reasonable and worthwhile. The place was serene and peaceful. The villa was clean and neat. Bath tub was a bit problematic, only used once and was clogged. The pool within the villa was used the most. The whole resort was clean, if you stroll by the villas, you can note a very tightly run ship with regards to cleaning and maintenance. Food was outstanding. We did not leave the villa for all 4 days and can say I have tried every single item on the menu. Thai Fried Rice is the ultimate go to for us. Shout out to Pesto Penne as well. Bicycles were available for rental and we basically took that and cycled around the plantations. Cons: Nature walk was a not a walk. We should have checked with the guide how far the distance would be. Basically wasted 1 hour in that activity.

6/10 Good

We recently had two stays at the hotel for one night each. The resort on paper looks fabulous but sadly is let down by many failings. On our first stay our arrival was okay, the room was excellent, the food was good, but the service in the restaurant was very poor. The water features by the entrance were very dirty and the swimming pool a disgusting shade of green. On our second stay our arrival coincided with another small group and it was clear the staff were totally unprepared for both ourselves and the other group, such that we both had to bring our own luggage into the lobby. The room was again excellent, and the restaurant service well below standard again apart from breakfast where there was a very good young waitress from Indonesia serving us. The food was good but not having any bananas or orange at breakfast was very disappointing. Fortunately the swimming pool was now much improved as were the water features. Also on the positive huge credit must go to your staff member Charline who was attentive, very knowledgeable and took time out to give us an enthralling tour of the property. She deserves huge credit. As a 5-Star hotel Mangala Resort meets this grade in parts, but in others fails miserably. The key to the failings are the staff who are clearly willing and try but they don’t appear to have had sufficient training. Having Nepalese staff on the front line who speak no Malay and only some English is not really appropriate for a hotel of this quality.

Enjoyed out 3D2N stay at Mangala. The resort manager granted us a discount to upgrade to the Vana pool villa which was available at that time. Great villa to stay in. Very quiet and private, and enjoyed the pool and outdoor shower the most. Staff at the resort were attentive and helpful at all times. Overall a very positive experience.

5 star hotel wannabe
We had really high expectations when we booked our anniversary stay in this so called 5 star hotel looking at the reviews that it had as well as the price we had to pay. Boy we were so wrong. First of all the outlook when we enter the lobby was really dated, we were greeted warmly though by the staff. The receptionist was also nice. He told us they were having a complimentary tea time just around the pool area between 3-5pm and since at the time we checked in it was 315pm so we decided to try it out before going to our villa. When we arrived there, the girl who was mending the stall was did not really offer us the food and was complaining saying that the beverages stall was not ready, the supervisor then came and also told us to come back later and advise us to freshen up first. So we went to the room to rest and at 415 we decided to go back to the stall and to our surprise the stalls were not there and it was not even 5pm. A 5 star resort would've just sent over the food and beverage to the room if they were about to close as they were not many guests anyway at the time we were there. Then at night, when we were trying to shower there was no hot water, the technician came and informed us to open the faucet and let the water run for 10mins for the hot water to come out, this is not a 5 star facility. When I was lying on the bed to sleep there were few ants on my hands, i just ignored them. At breakfast, we also feel the staffs were lacking, did not smile and was not having a

Stayed in 2 bedroom Amani villa with pool. Had to shorten stay due to CMCO but they were kind enough to help us on dealing with it and food was amazing. But there was a crew who was asking tip for a room service & saying deposit for wine opener is 50rm and reacted like it was a tip from us. We got it back but wasn't very pleased with experience. Except that everything else was enjoyable! Will be back and highly recommended.

Beautiful property with noisy fan, terrible food
The environment is absolutely gorgeous! However, something wrong with the way they installed the AC. I couldn't sleep 3 nights much. We have tried three rooms but the noisy air cons were the same. I gave up at the end. It turns on ok at the beginning but the time goes by, the compressor turns on and off all night and it makes metal click sounds as well. We turned off the AC and turn on the fan but fans were also absolutely noisy, too. The property is only 3 years old and I don't understand how all the AC and fans act like old machines. Someone needs to maintain their equipment better. After we checked in, towels were not ready, AC remote control didn't work. We called to change the remote control but nobody came so I had to call again. Staff are friendly and nice but they were not really trained well working in a "5 star" hotel. Food was just scary! I called the restaurant before I got there to let them know I have a special diet, however, they really didn't know what to do. They serve all unhealthy fried food for breakfast. All I could eat was fruits, salad and boiled egg. I would call 5 star property with 3 star service. If you are not specific with your food and you can sleep anywhere, this place will make you happy. If you are specific with your diet and if you are a light sleeper, this is not a place for you. It is a gorgeous place but they don't know how to run a proper 5 star resort. What a shame! Hope someone can improve overall quality so I can visit again

Rooms were old and poorly maintained
We stayed at the 6 room villa, rooms were old and poorly maintained, air-cond broke down and had musty smell after repair, service and house keeping was slow to reach the villa. A very different standard from the other villas. However, the design and layout was great for big families
