"The staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The only thing we did not like was the cost of the transfer from the airport to the property. If you stay at the property they should provide the transfers. Also, we did not like how when we arrived they tried to get us to go and listen about a timeshare to get deals for things on the resort. Lastly, the mosquitos were extremely bad! Other than that the resort was gorgeous, clean, quiet, and relaxing. The food was good and Arturo was amazing!"

"Extraordinary hotel and apts. Loved the stone walk ways and lush jungle landscaping Clean, safe, comfortable. The staff made the difference between a great stay and an unforgettable stay. Photos are accurate. Good location. Wonderful resturant. I had the pleasure of staying in 2 different rooms with plunge pools and a 1 bdr apt with plunge pool. Wow. Huge pool, priviate sun deck big enough to hold a 10 person party. Beautifully decorated. Large 2nd terrace, full large kitchen. Front desk staff - professional, polite, helpfull to a solo older lady traveler. Johnny was most kind. I'd return."

"Overall, we had a good stay at Hotel Kanan, and our room was absolutely amazing. However, the hotel itself felt a bit neglected and could definitely use some maintenance and extra attention. I understand that tourism may be slower right now, but I actually think this is the perfect opportunity to take care of the property and make improvements. One of our biggest disappointments was the beach. I completely understand that sargassum is a natural issue and difficult to control. However, there is a difference between dealing with seaweed and simply not maintaining the beach. We noticed trash sitting in the same spots for several days, and while neighboring hotels were actively cleaning up the seaweed and keeping their beaches tidy, here it seemed to be simply ignored or worked around. Breakfast was another disappointment. The options were underwhelming, and the food was quite bland and lacked flavor. It's a shame because the hotel has so much potential, and our room was truly wonderful. With better maintenance, more attention to cleanliness, and improvements to the breakfast, this could be a fantastic place to stay."

"Beautiful location, clean modern rooms, ocean front pool and staff super helpful. The hotel electricity is run with a generator so no hair dryers, mini fridges and some rooms do not have aircon. "Overall, the property was good, and the rooms surrounded by the jungle were amazing. I did notice a few things that could be improved. In the restroom, there were small insects that looked like roaches hiding between the tiles. There were also many mosquitoes and other insects around the paths to the rooms, and we were bitten by something other than mosquitoes. I understand that insects are part of the local environment, but better pest control and attention to the walkways would make getting to the rooms more comfortable. The food was okay, but the buffet options were limited and seemed to repeat in different locations each day. Only a few dishes had much flavor. Also, only one pool was open during our stay because the other was under construction. I’d be interested in returning once the second pool is repaired and giving the property another try."
